March Madness on the iPhone

Can you feel it? Madness is in the air. March Madness that is. The sound of sneakers squeaking up and down the courts of College campuses will soon be echoing through televisions, and if you're really retro, radios across the country. CBS Sports Mobile has decided to offer another, better option again this year in the form of an updated On Demand iPhone app.

USA Today's Technology Live blog just recently posted some info on the March Madness app that is now available for iPhone users. Last year's limitations have been removed and the entire offering has received a facelift. The full skinny is as follows:

  • Watch the entire tourney using any network such as Wi-Fi or 3G that is iPhone compatible.
  • Switch channels to watch simultaneous games.
  • The higher the bandwidth, the better the quality of the video.
  • A connection to the Westwood One radio broadcasts of the games is also available for users who can't watch at a particular time.
  • 2 services are available: free and premium. The free app is just for news and highlights. The premium app, priced at $9.99, offers a plethora of added bonuses.
  • CBS Mobile is also offering the service to users of the FLO TV Mobile TV service. Certain restrictions apply for FLO users depending on whether or not you are an AT&T subscriber or not.
So what do you guys think? Is this the greatest thing to happen to basketball since the slam dunk? Or is it just another app you'll never use? Discuss, comment, rant, whatever.
