First, I would like to say that I have no affiliation with Mint.com and they have no idea that I am writing this post or suggesting their company!
As the Mother of six (almost seven...) children I spend many a late night up at the computer, searching for good deals, reading the news or looking for tips on how to get baby vomit out of a new linen shirt. One sleepless night I came across a new budget planning site called Mint.com. I was immediately interested because I felt comfortable only giving them my email address to set up my account.
Obviously as a Mother I am pressed for time! Mint.com was so simple to set up, they did everything for me. I was thrilled to see the super impressive graphs and charts giving me a shockingly clear view of where our money was going....sorry kids, your fast food snacks are a thing if the past! I loved the budgeting part the best, I had a clear vision of where I wanted to go and where I should be. I also liked the positive messages that were sent when I made payments, "Congratulations you are $300 closer to paying off debt!"
As parents, we don't often get much praise!
My husband likes Mint for the more advanced features, tracking net income, net worth, IRA's etc. As a former financial adviser he was surprised that this site was free and was very impressed. Mint was able to synchronize all our accounts at all our financial institutions, it gave us a clear picture that we had never seen before.
The last feature that my simple little mind loved, was the new Mint.com iPhone app. also, for Blackberry, and Droid, it was really an eye opener to have all the information at my fingertips all day. It has changed the way that my family spends money. Overall, this is an amazing free site. I would be willing to pay for it as it has really changed our spending habits and caused us to save so much money.
Two thumbs up!
