Following up on my recent interview with Annie at Savings.com about getting free items at your local drugstores, I wanted to show you how you can get over $100 in completely free items on Black Friday. Keep Reading--and look at the photo for an example of the type of free loot you can get every week!
Black Friday is no small holiday in my house. The deals--and the deal-getting--that take place are pretty extraordinary, and if you know where to look, you will be thrilled to discover that a second day of Thanksgiving.
Although you've heard about Black Friday deals at shopping malls, you probably haven't heard as much buzz about drugstores. The reality, though, is that Black Friday is probably the single-best day for drugstore freebies all year. This year, you can pick up no less then $110 in FREE (yes, entirely free!) items at drugstores like CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid. And even if you might not use all the items, you can always give them to someone else, as I encourage in my coupon class.
I?m going to take you through the Black Friday Freebies at the three main drugstores this Friday and show you how to get the deals.
CVS and the CVS Extra Care Bucks (ECB) Program
The CVS system is based on the idea of the "Extra Care Buck" or "ECB." One ECB is worth one dollar, but ECBs are only good at CVS. So the key to CVS freebies are that you only get money back in the form of ECBs (coupons which are printed at the bottom of your receipt). The way it works is that if you buy something advertised as a product that will give you back ECBs, the ECBs will print at the bottom of your receipt at the end of your transaction. These printed receipts are your money for you to use on future transactions on any item at CVS. It is critical that you don't throw out your receipts with ECBs printed on them! If you use ECBs, though, you do NOT get change back.
If you buy something advertised as "free after ECBs," then you will have the money in the form of an ECB coupon as soon as you leave the register. That's what we'll be doing on Black Friday. You will get an ECB worth the *entire value* of the item when you finish purchasing! So they are FREE!
Should you buy the items all at once?
You can either divide all the freebie products up into multiple transactions to try to spend the least out of pocket at one time or you can buy them all at once. For instance, if I buy only the Just for Men in my first transaction, I will have a $9 ECB to use on my next transaction. So I could use that $9 ECB to buy Vaseline Lotion and a Mars Candy Bar. I would then receive another $8 ECB and a $1.59 ECB from those items. This can go on and on, keeping my total out of pocket costs very low. The alternative is to buy all the items at once and spend $45 out of pocket and then get $45 free to use the next time you want to buy something at CVS. Since CVS sells anything under the sun, you could use the $45 to go grocery shopping next week! Do it either way.
Here are the items to pick up at CVS that are FREE after ECBs.
Just for Men, Touch of Grey $8.99
Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion $7.99
Degree Ultra Clear for Women at $4
Magnavox Universal Remote $6.99
Dyna Prep Energy Shots $4.99
Right Guard Sport 3D
Mars King Size Candy Bars $1.59
Phillips Earbuds $6.99
Hershey?s or Reese?s Singles Candy $.89
Here are a couple more incredible deals this week, that aren't entirely free, but you will only end up paying $.99 or $2 for each because of the ECBs you will get back.
Schick Quattro Razor or 4 ct Refill $9.99
Bic Soleil Razor $6.99
St. Ives Body Wash 16 oz. $3.99
Herbal Essences Hair Care 6-12 oz., $2.99
Now let's head to Walgreens to pick up the freebies there...
Walgreens
Walgreens uses a system called Register Rewards, which is similar to the CVS Extra Care Bucks system. Register Rewards print out when you make your purchases and the cashier gives them with you when he or she gives you your receipt. You can use them on your next purchase. If you use a register reward to buy something, you do NOT get change back. Register Rewards have other tricky aspects to them--like you can?t use the same register reward you just received from a purchase of Right Guard to turn around and buy the same product again.
Infusium 23 Hair Care 8 or16 oz $4.99
Dove Ultimate Deodorant 2.6 oz $3.99
Johnson?s Softwash 18-20.3 oz $5.99
Nivea Shave Gel for Men 7 oz $2.49
Right Guard Solid Deodorant 2.8-3oz $2.49
Aquafresh 8.2 oz $1.99
Awesome!
Now let's go to Rite Aid and pick up their freebies...
Rite Aid and the Single Check Rebates System
At Rite Aid you need to learn about the Rite Aid Single Check Rebates system to maximize your savings. The Single Check Rebate system at Rite Aid works like this: certain items at Rite Aid give you cash back for buying them--in the form of a check for whole or part of the purchase price. You receive the check in the mail after submitting your receipts online. For instance, you might receive a $5 check for the purchase of your $5 shampoo--making it free. There is a booklet telling you about the deals called the Single Check Rebate booklet and you can pick this up online or in the front of the store. After submitting your receipts online or in the email, you then get your money back in checks sent to you in the mail.
You can sign up for Rite-Aid Single Check Rebates online. Then, make sure to pick up the booklet at the front of the store to see what are all the Single Check Rebate items this month. After you make your purchases, go home and log back into the online system to tell it what you bought. You'll get your check in the mail in 2-6 weeks!
Here is what you can get for FREE after Single Check Rebate at Rite Aid:
