It’s that time of year again! It’s time for our annual Save Up conference, and this year we’re thrilled to host our seventh edition of the conference in the lovely and quirky city of Austin, Texas. America’s savviest money-saving bloggers, the Savings.com DealPros, will be descending upon Austin from July 31st through August 2nd for a couple days of learning, networking and fun!
We’re thrilled to announce Save Up ’13 in Orlando, Florida! This year’s event will take place at the Orlando World Center Marriott on August 1st – 3rd. This is our sixth Save Up event, and we’re stoked to get together with the DealPros once again for a couple days of learning, networking and fun!
This morning, the Savings.com team is pleased to announce that we along with Savoo (our British sister site), we have been acquired by Cox Target Media. We’ll be joining Valpak under the umbrella of Cox companies, combining our strengths to bring America even more savings.
During the past five years, we’ve made it our mission to be a leading online source for personalized deals, money saving tips, and building a community of knowledgeable savvy experts with our DealPros. Valpak has years of experience in offering localized print and digital savings, which are promoted by a network of franchisees across the nation. By teaming up with Valpak, we’re taking steps to build an even more comprehensive money saving space and building value for both businesses and consumers.
Over the past few months, the team here at Savings.com has been working on a new initiative called Savings Nation. Savings Nation is a movement to bring money-saving workshops to communities all across the country that are taught by Savings.com DealPros in an effort to teach people that “There’s No Such Thing As Small Change!” We tested this program with four classes earlier this spring, and we’re thrilled to announce our expansion into 25 more cities this summer!
One of our favorite events at Savings.com are the 2-day, company-wide hackathons we do at the end of every quarter. Hackathons have become an important part of our company culture. They’re where everyone gets to let out their inner-entrepreneur. They’re where anybody’s passion can get an equal shot of turning into something tangible and great. For two days, we get to step away from our day-to-day jobs and focus 100% of our energy into something new and different. We get a chance to work closely with colleagues in other departments, whom we may rarely get to work with otherwise, and engineers get a chance to immerse themselves in new and exciting technologies. The benefits from a culture standpoint are endless.
At Savings.com we want to end impulse purchases, forever, and promote smart spending behaviors. We know our users want to save money and spend their money where it counts. That’s why we’ve launched a new service called ClipList.
Similar to how you use Pinterest to “Pin” items, the ClipList works the same way. When you’re on other websites shopping, just click the “Clip It!” button at the top of your browser, to add the item- to your list, whether it’s a pair of shoes or an expensive bracelet. The ClipList allows you to easily organize the items you want (and send others to your link, so they can see too)!
Once we’ve come across a great deal that works for an item on your list, we’ll show you a coupon that matches that item. If we don’t have one, we’ll scour the web, and send you an email alert to let you know when a deal is available. ClipList helps you to save more, and you’ll know that you’re getting the best deal possible.
For our 4th annual Save Up conference, we brought everyone to the Savings.com headquarters in Los Angeles. We played host to 31 of our DealPro ambassadors, the very best money saving experts in the county, together for two full days of learning, networking, and fun. Our DealPros regularly cover topics such as personal finance, finding the best deals, and how to be budget savvy.
Save Up ’12 was a training and networking event for the first wave Savings Nation DealPro teachers. These DealPros will be hosting grocery couponing workshops all over the country in the coming months. We spent the majority of the time focused on Savings Nation curriculum training, media & presentation training and learning best blogging practices. Savings.com staff members led discussions on SEO, PR, and monetization tips & tricks.
Quantity and Quality of Deals Offers Huge Savings for Online Shoppers
LOS ANGELES, CA, April 5, 2012 — Savings.com, the leading online source for coupons, deals and expert shopping tips, today announced that it has achieved a major milestone — it has posted 1,000,000 deals to the site since being founded almost five years ago. The quality and quantity of the deals has helped the company save online shoppers more than $500 million.
The database of deals on Savings.com includes hundreds of thousands of active coupons aggregated from online and national retailers, local businesses, daily deal sites, and grocery brands. In order to cut through deal clutter on the web, Savings.com is powered by personalization technology that helps online shoppers find only the best and most relevant offers.
Here at Savings.com, we’re passionate about helping people. Whether it’s helping people save money by using a 25% off coupon at their favorite store, or teaching you how to incorporate small changes in your monthly spending habits, we’re continually looking for new ways to give back. We feel that we have a social responsibility to give back to the community, but more importantly- we enjoy it!
This past month, I’ve had the privilege of organizing a campaign with DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that works with approximately 40% of schools nationwide to pair donors with classrooms in need. Public school teachers post about specific needs for classroom projects, so that you can donate directly to that project. Requests range from e-readers to promote literacy to musical instruments for band classes. Once a project has reached its funding goal, DonorsChoose.org delivers the materials directly to the school.
Here at Savings HQ, we lead a relatively paper-free existence, as emails and in-office memos are the norm. All this talk about pictures and printing has me reminiscing about college though! Even for students with the most luxurious winter breaks (my own was 6-weeks long!), classes are back in session. For some of you Moms out there, hopefully this means getting the kids out of the house and having a few spare minutes to yourself, for a change!
Hopefully by now, all your Christmas shopping is finished and all that’s left to do is some holiday baking! Nearly a month ago, we announced our Toys for Tots campaign as a way to partner with our users and give back to the community.
In less than five years, Savings.com has saved consumers more than $500 million. We founded Savings.com in 2007 with a mission to help people save money by connecting people and creating a community of money saving experts. We continue to be driven by this passion so it is an incredibly proud moment to announce that we have achieved this scale so quickly.
Happy Holidays from all of us here at Savings! December is only days away, and we’re already planning for Christmas! Twinkling lights are being strung from the rooftops, the smell of pine and fir is in the air, and I can almost taste the peppermint hot chocolate that’s a tradition on Christmas Eve.
At Savings.com, our company mission is to help others, and we realize that the holidays can be an especially tough time for many families. Continuing in last year’s holiday tradition, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our 2011 Toys for Tots campaign! Over the next three weeks, we’ll donate $1 for every time you share a Savings.com Facebook post.
We’re proud to announce that we ranked 7th on the Los Angeles Business Journal’s esteemed list of the region’s fastest-growing private companies.
As consumers start the hunt for great deals and savings on gifts for the holiday season, Valpak Direct Marketing Systems, Inc., a leader in local print and digital coupons, has partnered with Savings.com to offer more than 20,000 online coupons from national brands and retailers on Valpak.com making shopping easier than ever this holiday season and beyond.
