Since our website has thousands of different coupons and discounts people are always asking: "How can I save the most money?" "What types of coupons work the best?"

So here are some suggestions to help you save the most while using the coupons and deals at Savings.com.

First, a little background info so that everyone is on the same page. There are basically three types of deals: Site-wide, Category and Product. Here are the definitions of the different deal types:

  1. Site-wide deals - This is a deal that applies everything on the site. An example would be saving 10% on all orders at Backcountry.

  2. Category deals - This deal is for a specific category of product at the merchant. An example would be 15-70% discount on women's clothing at Gap--as there are a variety of products that you can get with the coupon, but the deal doesn't apply to the entire store.

  3. Product deals - This deal only pertains to one specific product or product line. An example of this would be an Amazon deal for 5-25% off the iPod touch .

On top of the types of deals, there are also types of discounts. These fall into basically 3 groups-- percent off, dollar off and free shipping. While these are pretty self-explanatory, the basics are as follows:

  1. Percent off discounts - This is where you get a certain percentage off what you spend. This means the more you spend, the more you save. For instance: Save 25% off 3 Men's Essentials at Banana Republic.

  2. Dollar off discounts - These are just what they sound like: you get a certain amount of money off. Here is an example of dollar off: Save $5 off $30 at Drugstore.com.

  3. Free Shipping - Basically, this where you don't have to pay for shipping the item to your door. This is great because then there is no difference between going to a store and having your stuff shipped directly to your house! An example of this: Free Value Shipping on Orders of $25 or more at Gamestop.

Now that we have all the definitions and everyone understands exactly what we are talking about, tomorrow we'll dig in and find out how exactly we can keep the most money in our pocket, while still getting some really great stuff.
