Boxed mixes? Nah. I’m obsessed with making things from scratch as much as possible. Not only is it healthier, but it can also be cheaper to cook this way. As long as I have these necessities on hand, I know that I can make some scrumptious goodies at the drop of hat.

Here are the items I like to keep on hand:

1. All purpose flour (preferably unbleached).

2. Sugar (white and brown sugars).

3. Baking soda (Costco sells huge bags inexpensively).

4. Baking powder.
5. Arrowroot powder (starch used for thickening).

6. Ground cinnamon.

7. Sea salt.

8. Pepper.

9. Cornmeal.

10. Coconut oil.

Just by having a these types of items on hand it’s easy to make biscuits, cornbread, cakes, pies, pancakes, waffles, breads and so much more. With the holidays fast approaching, it’s important to have the necessities on hand.

Would you add anything to this list?
