It's about time for our annual trek cross country to NYC for LinkShare Symposium East. This has always been a must attend industry event for us primarily because of the massive amount of networking opportunities it presents. For 2009, the event is once again sold out and we are going full bore as one of the proud sponsors.

Not only that, last I checked the RSVP list we are bringing considerably more manpower than your average publisher in the LinkShare network. In attendance from Savings.com will be the usual suspects: CEO Loren Bendele, Dir. Of Business Development Marc Flemming, and yours truly representing Deal Operations. Our newly assembled Merchant Relations team will be doing the bulk of the heavy lifting in New York next week. This team is headed by the latest addition to Savings.com--Mr. Craig O'Neill--and consists of Account Managers Jacob Huang and Jeff Savich. These three are the ones who have been putting in the long hours to organize all our meetings and sponsorships for LinkShare Symposium.

You may be asking yourself why we invest so much time and effort here. Well, Linkshare is known for a pretty decent after party--but for the Savings.com crew its really all about the DEALS. Events like this give us the opportunity to talk with our partners face to face and workout the most competitive deals possible for our users. Our main focus is finding creative ways to promote our trusted partners while saving our users money.

LinkShare usually rounds up some great keynote speakers for the event as well. This year is no different with Jonah Lehrer, author of How We Decide who will lead a discussion on the emotions of online shopping decisions. I became an instant fan when I read a quote from this book a few weeks back: "Unless you experience the unpleasant symptoms of being wrong, your brain will never revise its models. Before your neurons can succeed, they must repeatedly fail. There are no shortcuts for this painstaking process."

Good stuff, I'm planning to read in its entirety on the flight home.

We're very thankful to have a trusted network in LinkShare that gives us the opportunity to work so closely with our merchants to bring huge savings back to our community. In such unpredictable times, never has such a partnership been more important. Feel free to leave comments below--preferably with recommendation for a restaurant in NYC or decent bar we can grab a drink at while in town!
