It's that time of year again. The '"
sexiest night on television" a.k.a. The
2011 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show aired last night with some of the most beautiful women in very expensive lingerie (
and big angel wings!). This year, Miranda Kerr wore the $2.5 million Fantasy Bra.
With all the backstage footage, you really get a feel for the action that occurs behind the scenes. Thirty-eight models walked the runway. This required: 69 outfits, 22 makeup artists, 20 hair stylists, 7 body groomers and 5 manicurists all working to get the models looking gorgeous.
This time, the models were given a more natural, angelic look--no more fake lashes and big hair. If you fancy this year's makeup and hair, read on for some of their backstage beauty tips and how you can recreate this simple look it at home:
For the makeup, the goal is to look like a natural beauty while still having a little bit of glam. To keeping the face light, use a tinted moisturizer rather than foundation or powder. Use a bronzer and lightly sweep it under the cheek bone and on the jawline to enhance the structure of your face, and use a little bit of blush on your cheek bones.
To create a more angelic look, use a gold pigment powder like
NYX Loose Eyeshadow (
$6) to highlight above the cheek bones and can also be used on your eye lids.
All you need for the eyes are some liquid eyeliner and mascara. The mascara they used for the runway on the models is
VS Triple Drama Mascara (
$14).
Get a pretty, natural pale-pink pout like all the Angels by first applying a lip balm to create a soft base. Use a nude pink lipstick like
Maybelline's Pink Peony (
$6). Complete the look with the gloss they used on the show,
VS Sublime Lipgloss (
$12), for extra shine.
This year, hair styles were more natural and wavy. The trick is to make it look simple and undone. Try
Beach Blow Texturizing Mist (
$21) to get that tousled, sexy-waves look.
Bring out the texture by spraying on a shine mist. Use
Garnier Fructis Brilliantine (
$3) for a high-shine finish. If your hair is naturally wavy, you can just apply this when your hair is damp.
To get the bod glowing for an all out Angel runway look, use an instant bronzer or sunless tanner all over your body to even out the skin tone. Amplify your skin a little more by applying a bit of shimmer powder on the legs and chest. The
VS Bronze Shimmer Body Powder (
$12) was used for this on the models.
Did you watch the Victoria's Secret fashion show? What did you think of the looks presented?
I'm gonna try the Garnier products. Missed the show.
