The holidays are fast approaching and it's that time of the year again where planning is the key to your success.  I am an impromptu kind of gal and very far from planning everything down to the details, but when I do plan the specifics, I'm way more successful and happier with the outcome (plus, I'm a little bit more sane).

If this is the very first party you're hosting and you're not sure where to begin or need suggestions even though you've hosted many, start with these tips from our DealPros:

Begin with a budget

When your doing anything where money is involved, you need to know how much you are going to spend.  It's a big no-no to walk into a store without a budget because you'll be spending more than you need to (maybe even hundreds of dollars more) and begin to have buyer's remorse as you walk out of the store.  Northern Cheapskate has tips on how to spend very little and Host a Gathering on a Budget.  You'll still be able to have fun without spending too much!
Having a frugal party

Now that you have a budget, you need some ideas for making your party happen.  Of course, if you dig into magazines and go online, there are tons of ideas, but are they frugal?  Will you be spending $1.99 for your centerpiece or will you be spending over $100?  These are some things you need to think about when planning a party.  Thrifty NW Mom offers up 5 Frugal Fall Entertaining Ideas that are very cute and more importantly will not break the bank.

Stress-Free holidays

When I think of the holidays, it's unfortunate that part of my mind starts to see the word STRESS flashing in big red lights.  I have these images of myself running around like a crazy woman going from grocery stores to malls and everything in between.  Read these Tips To Save During The Holidays: Entertaining Stress Free by Kansas City Mamas.  Let's keep the stress out of fun this year!

So for this holiday season, have a strategy in place.  Write down your budget, get inspirations and ideas of what you want at your party and then make it a stress-free experience for you and your guests.  Come back next week to see what our DealPros will be saying about Thanksgiving. Cheers!
