With over $5.2 million in pledges, we've hit the first tier of our mission to save Americans $1 billion, so we've upped the ante from $5 million to $10 million.  And to motivate and inspire you to set and reach your own financial goals, here are some more Savings Pledge stories from our intrepid DealPros.

Not sure what this whole "Savings Pledge" thing is about?  Heather of Passion for Savings wrote a post detailing the six principles of savvy living which is the basis for the pledge.

Lisa of Smart Spending Spot counsels readers to embrace principle #2:  buy quality rather than quantity.  It's good advice:  investing in quality saves money in the long run.

Jasmine of Dealicious Finds echoes this advice with her post about being smart vs. cheap.  She says to focus on value rather than cost.  Smart peeps these DealPros, huh?

Shellie of Saving with Shellie gives some guidance about how to go about setting "SMART" goals so that your Pledge is actually something that's achievable.

Shannon aka Coupon Princess has pledged to save $50 a week.  Her goal:  new furniture for her home.  See--it's about saving on things you need to be able to afford the things you want!

Merissa of Little House on the Prairie Living gives an update on her goal to get completely out of debt by January.  She and her husband cut up their credit cards, so she's really serious about her pledge.

How are you doing with the Savings Pledge?
