4 ways to kick your bad smoking habit to the curb

When it comes to smoking, the statistics speak for themselves. The American Lung Association says that tobacco kills Americans more than World War II. Approximately 443,000 people die prematurely from smoking and second-hand smoking each year. Those are very high numbers that could have been preventable.

The tobacco industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that's really good at making smoking look appealing to it's consumers. Shockingly, out of those consumers, some spend up to 25% of their income on cigarettes.

In order to stay healthy and keep your bank account intact, I've got 4 ways to kick your bad smoking habit to the curb:

Xylitol gum - You can choose any brand, but we get the Spry brand. It's hard for many habitual smokers to drop their cigarettes cold turkey. Like going on a diet, you start to obsess over something you feel like you're depriving yourself of. A lot of times, using something else to take it's place will do the trick. Unlike sugar-filled gum that won't do much for your dental health, these xylitol gums will improve the health of your teeth and will help curb your cigarette cravings.

Dark Chocolate - Many smokers feel a sense of pleasure when they smoke. When you get the urge to smoke, eat a little bit of dark chocolate. The dark chocolate will also give you a sense of pleasure and may relieve stress which is usually one of the reasons why people smoke.

Get Grind - A tobacco alternative that's actually healthy for you. I came across this product while watching an episode of ABC's Shark Tank. Like chewing tobacco, you would be grinding on a concentrated pouch of flavored coffee (equals 1/4 cup of coffee). Plus, you get an energy boost.

Yoga - If you don't want to replace your smoking habit with another product, you can do your Om. When you get the urge to smoke, sit down and take a few minutes to meditate. Take deep breaths in and out as you think about the clean air around you. Surprisingly, some people I've met doing yoga said that this actually does the trick!

Smoking cannot only kill you, but it can kill the innocent loved ones around you. The bad habit not only wreaks havoc on your health, but it can also effect your finances. It's time to break up with Mr. and Mrs. Cigarettes!
