With over $8 million
pledged to date, we're are barreling along on our mission to save America one billion dollars. Have you taken the
Savings Pledge yet? If you need a bit of inspiration, read on for more Savings Pledge stories from our super savers, the DealPros:
Lisa of
Smart Spending Spot does her weekly Savings Pledge check-in by
sharing her thoughts about pledge principle #3: "Always have fun and be curious." She dispels the notion that frugality equals drudgery saying, "You can have fun at reduced prices." Indeed! She also has a great post on pledge principle #4: "
Spend fearlessly."
Alyssa of
Fun Finds for Families gives an update on her
pledge to save $50 a week which she plans to achieve by sticking to her meal planning--even with the sweltering summer weather.
Melissa of
Stockpiling Moms paid for a
family trip to Disney World using money she put aside each month.
Ashley, aka
NorCalCouponGal, is meeting her pledge goal by
paying herself first. She set up an automatic savings plan with ING Direct and has money transferred from her checking account twice a month. She's not missing the extra cash in her checking account--it's a painless way to put aside some money.
Allie of
Wardrobe Oxygen also blogs about
frugal fashion every Monday at Savings.com--and she's a newly minted
DealPro as well! She encouraged her readers to take the Savings Pledge, even if it's for as little as $5 per week. (
After all, it's not too much of a sacrifice to save $5 a week--plus that adds up to over $250 over the course of a year!)
Alex and Cassie, aka
The Thrifty Couple, cut almost $600 per month for their pledge goal, which is to
start their own home business and take charge of their destiny. While $600 a month is a pretty heavy duty goal, the benefits of having the freedom to pursue their dream is definitely worth the sacrifice.
What's your financial goal? Take the pledge and share what your saving for in the comments.
