If you don't remember the 80's then either your brain ids fried or you're that young and I am really THAT
old. I'm talking shell-top Adidas, Members Only jackets, Rubik's Cube,
and the debate over whether to buy a Commodore or Atari game console.
The biggest games of the decade were--hands down--Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Galaga and Asteroids.
It was only a matter of time before some retro enthusiast (read: old geek like me) decided to marry the love of past games with functioning practicality. I give you, the Heat Changing Arcade Mugs.
Obviously copyright is an issue, so Pac-Man becomes Pac-Boy and Space Invaders is replaced with Space Intruders. Silly name changes aside, these mugs are one of the coolest (cheesy pun very much intended) weird product offerings around. Here's the deal: When the mugs are empty, or cold, they show an empty game screen. Add your favorite coffee, tea, or hot toddy and the facade of the mug changes to that of an active game screen. The biggest news is they are also a great bargain. You can get your outer nerd on for just $7.99 a mug. Usually I pick something ridiculous and roll out the non-stop stream of snarky comments. Not this day my friends. Today I am placing my order for a Space Invaders themed mug. Yes, it's true, I am that geeky.
So what do you think? Just the right bit of retro to make you part ways with eight bucks?
