Product Review
With new Android phones coming out regularly, some feel as though
Android is poised to give Apple serious competition. Every month new reports and surveys are coming out showing that Android's market share is rapidly increasing. With great features, flexibility and, in most cases, cheaper plans, it makes sense that people are considering making the switch from
iPhone to
Android.
Droid May be Cheaper
Depending on your network, it can cost significantly less money to have an Android than an iPhone. The costs of the devices are similar, but the cost of using an iPhone increases when you consider buying apps and other features. Usage and data plans tend to be cheaper as well for networks that offer Android devices.
The Technology is Improving
Android phones were not known for their sleek designs or for the best hardware. All that changed, however, with Android phones such as the
HTC Hero and the
Motorola Droid. These were the first phones that caught the eye of consumers and since then Android phones have been produced with excellent quality. Companies like HTC and
Samsung are delivering new high-quality, visually appealing devices on almost a weekly basis.
Freedom of Choice
The great thing about Android devices is the freedom to choose carriers. The iPhone, on the other hand, is limited to
AT&T in the United States. Android phones can be used with every major cell phone provider, and for this reason it appeals to the masses.
App Happy
If you are into apps and features, you can't go wrong with an Android phone. The iPhone truly has its share of great apps and features, but the Android market has thousands of free apps available that do not require passwords or a purchase transaction through iTunes. The Google integration is one of the best things about Android. Whether you want to use Google search, Google voice, Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, or any other Google Service, it's right on your phone and can be accessed quickly.
Storage
You can easily connect Android to your PC by mounting the SD card so that it can be accessed by any operating system. You can add music, files, pictures, and more from your phone to your PC and vice versa. There are constant debates whether it is better to have a QWERTY keyboard on simply a touch screen. Unlike the iPhone, the Android lets you choose between the two. With phones that have both options, you can choose the one that best fits your needs.
Hats of to iPhone, but Droid's Looking Good
There is no denying that the iPhone is a great product that is well-liked, but the popularity of Android is increasing every day. With more flexibility and great features, Android is proving to be a competitive force in the telecommunications market. There are plenty of quirks that still need to be worked out with Android devices, but with the improved mobile OS system, it is clear that Android is going places.
