Throwing a Halloween bash doesn't have to be expensive. Instead of offering a full meal, serve some tasty and scary snacks! I've put together a menu to get you started, but you don't have to stop there. If you'd like to offer more sweets, head to the candy aisle and see what you can find on sale. Often you can get candy corn for as low as $1 a bag.
Looking for more salty snacks? Opt for a generic brand of potato chips. Once they are out of the bag, no one will know the difference. Add some dip and maybe a bag of pretzels, and you have another option for your guests.
Finger Food - via MyRecipes.com ($7 to $9)
Make your veggie dip creepy by transforming the carrots and green beans into fingers!
Ingredients:
1 (2 oz.) bag sliced almonds
1/2 pound green beans
12 small carrots
2 Tbsp. cream cheese
Halloween Eye of Newt - via AllRecipes.com ($5 to $8)
Super spooky deviled eggs! It's likely you already have some of the ingredients lying around, such as mayo and yellow mustard, which will help you keep the cost down.
Ingredients:
12 eggs
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 pinch celery salt
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
2 drops green food coloring
1 (6 ounce) can sliced black olives
Witch's Brew ($4 - $6)
A bubbly concoction with some surprises inside!
Ingredients:
1 quart of grape juice, chilled
2 two-liters of lemon-lime soda, chilled
12 gummy spiders
1 vinyl glove
Rubber band
Fill ice tray with water. Then add a gummy spider to each compartment, and freeze for at least four hours.
Fill the vinyl glove with water, and seal with the rubber band. Freeze for at least four hours.
When it's time for the party, mix together the grape juice and soda in a large punch bowl.
Remove the glove from the ice hand, and add it to the bowl. (If you have trouble removing the glove, try dipping it in some lukewarm water first.) Then add the spider ice cubes. Now it's ready to serve!
Gummy Worm Brownies ($3 - $5)
Super simple recipe that's yummy and looks great too!
Ingredients:
Brownie mix
Vegetable Oil
Water
Eggs
Gummy Worms
Make the batch of brownies as instructed on the box.
Once they're done, let them cool for a bit and then add some gummy worms on top.
