Wacky Product of the Week: Cool Shades Tape

It's another end to a another long week my friends. So, of course you know that means it's wacky product of the week time once more. This fine day I bring you something completely useless and ridiculous. Special thanks to my buddy Tom for sharing the absurd topic of this blog post with me the other day. Hold onto your seats true believers, as I bring you...Cool Shades Tape.

No that's not me diving into the bad English well. They are really called Cool Shades Tape. Thrillist.com has them up for sale, but I'll give you the basic breakdown here.

See, they are tape, shaped and designed to look like sunglasses. Cool sunglasses if you define "cool" as "to look moronic and silly as all get-out." The heir-apparent to BluBlockers these are not. They do come in two styles for your geeky pleasure, disc-jockey and supermodel. Trust me, purchasing and subsequently wearing a roll of this stuff will not help you look like either. You'd have more luck hitting Venice Beach on a Saturday and buying some knockoff shades 2 for $10, if your goal is to look relatively cool. Sigh, but if you must spend your cash on this item, here's all you need to know straight from the source:

"Can be used to accessorize clothing ...or for packaging!!  (It is not recommended that these tapes are applied directly onto the body, as the adhesive may cause irritation to sensitive skin or damage to hair)."

Hm, well that's not too contradictory (based on the photo above and ones on their own site) or scary. Rock on!

So who agrees with me? Dumb and a waste of dough or just the right injection of groovy the tape world needed. Mingle and discuss below.

Until next week when the wacky and wild rise up to baffle, befuddle, and generally amuse us all, have a safe one. As always, you can follow my adventures into the strange via Twitter @SavingsGCapes.
