DealPro Tips
It's already Wednesday? With Monday off for Memorial Day, this week is flying by. The news has been full of weird stories, most of which I've tried to ignore, in order to keep my sanity intact.
Apparently zombies exist, with a man in Florida going into a
drug-induced psychosis, an article I don't recommend for the faint of heart (or anyone who wants to keep a semblance of faith in humanity).
On a lighter note, a waiter in New York received a
$5,000 tip for a $27 bill. The waiter had recently lost his car in a severe storm, and had been relying on cabs and buses to commute to work. All that changed when a regularly dining couple left a giant tip and told him, "This is for you to go and buy a nice car".
Now that your faith has been restored, let's press on to my top DealPro blog posts of the week.
Reasons You Are Not Getting The Same Results As You TLC Extreme Couponing So you just started clipping coupons from the Sunday paper, and you still ended up spending money on your groceries? Aren't they supposed to be free? You saw half an episode of Extreme Couponing a few weeks ago, and you're pretty sure that's what the coupon lady was saying. It's just a liiiittle more complicated than that. Read on to find out why you're not getting the same results.
Ten Ways to Practice Extreme Couponing
Ah, yes, our favorite show rears it's ugly head once again. Thankfully,
you too can become an extreme couponer! Hopefully you aren't too
attached to actually having a life though.
How To: Plan a Staycation. Tips and Ideas to Take Some Time Off Without Breaking the Bank Even if you've racked up the vacation days at your job, taking time off to fly somewhere exotic may not exactly be near your budget. (Or, like me, if may be an exotic vacation's flight pattern away). Time to explore the parts of your city you always mean to, but never have time for.
How To: Save Money on Children's Books Want your kids to be readers? Start reading them stories when their little to help them learn to love it. Most of our habits start at a young age, so get the kiddos started by showing them your favorite books. This list gives you some quick tips for saving money that can also be applied to adults. I'm happy to admit that I'm a huge fan of the library, which not only helps me save money, but lessens my eco-footprint as well!
Colored Shaving Cream Bathtime Fun Colored shaving cream as a fun bathtime paint? Okay, so I don't have kids of my own, but I kind of want to take advantage of this. If you do have little ones, I highly recommend this.
How We Do It: 5 Tips For Garage Sales Whether you're moving and need to cut down on belongings or you're finally ready to give up the collection of Beanie Babies that's been gathering dust since the 90s, a garage sale could be your solution. Take advantage of these tips to sell your items and make some extra cash.
Creative Meal Organization How do you plan your weekly meals for the family? Hopefully (unlike me), you aren't deciding an hour before and running to the grocery store to stock up on ingredients. If you're not sure where to start, this is a great plan.
Summer Cooking: Avocado Black Bean Corn Salsa I can't wait to try out this recipe, which combines three of my favorite salad toppings into a delicious salsa.
Lemon Berry Cheesecake Bars
Avocado's a healthy fat, and salsa's fairly healthy, right? (Answer:
yes, as long as you don't consume the entire bag of tortilla chips). For
some reason, summer always makes me think of lemony desserts- the
tartness is the perfect offset to the sugar, and it's a nice alternative
to heavy brownies or a cake.
Bath Salts? That makes a man go all Donner Pass? I don't even want to know if it's a Calgon product or code for something new the kids are doing.
There are days I don't even want to know what's going on but alas, I must pay attention, whether I want to or not. I call people that aren't paying attention"ostich-ized" and I don't want to become one of my own pet peeves.
That reminds me of a weird little take on a Beatles song from years ago. I bred the gnus today, whooo boy.

I was glad to see the "staycation" article included. Great advice for stress-relieving time off, and it's a wonder more people don't use their vacation time. Everyone wants to be the one with vacation stories from exotic destinations, but everyone also has parts of the city that they haven't explored.

As a restaurant employee living off of tips, I love the story at the top! :)
