There seems to be a constant struggle in our household to find the right combination of neutrals and color in our decor. I find myself constantly trying to convince my husband that we need some color. And by color, I mean bright color! I truly believe it brings such life to a space. He on the other hand would be happy with white, beige, and more white and beige.
Why not add color when there are so many quick, easy and inexpensive ways to do it? Need some ideas? Try one of these:
- Throw a few colorful pillows and/or a throw on your beige sofa, how about turquoise?
- Paint your kitchen cabinets or dining chairs a bold color to pop against your white walls, kelly green anyone?
- Add an accent wall to any room in your house, yellow is always cheerful.
- Add one signature colored piece to a room, a red sofa. Not feeling so bold, how about an accent chair in blue?
- Try adding some colorful towels in the bathroom--I'm currently in love with orange.
The point is there is no need to be afraid of color. If you're not ready for the red sofa or green kitchen cabinets, start small. A coat of paint here, a turquoise pillow there, any of these ideas can do wonders in transforming a space into something fresh and exciting!
