Here on the west coast, it may still be too warm to wear that new sweater or coat you purchased for Fall, but one way to quickly ease into autumn season is by changing up your makeup!
This year seems to be one of the most interesting years when it comes to makeup as a variety of different styles have been set as trends. Now it's time to put away the colors of summer in favor of the new, bold makeup trends that ruled the
fall fashion shows. From Yves Saint Laurent's red lips to Prada's dark, dominant brows, designers used not-so-subtle trends to top off their looks for the fall season.
Here are some of my favorite must-have makeup looks from the runway for Fall, and where you can snag them for less.
Red LipsIf you buy one new makeup item this season, make it a red lipstick. Red lipstick is probably the biggest trend for Fall--everything from bright, siren red to deep burgundies. Any shade can be found for every skin tone whether you want to use a lipstick, stain, or gloss.
The best part of this trend is that you can make it look imperfect. So don't worry about perfectly lining your lips, just apply it from the tube and blot it down for a light stain or add an extra coat for more a more dramatic look.
To get dramatic red lips, try
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Fire and Ice or
Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Stain in Cherry Pop.
Cat EyesAside from red lipstick, black eyeliner is a makeup must for fall. Cat eyes help enhance the eyes and create a sensual feline look. This type of makeup is appropriate for all eye shapes and looks great on everyone. It is a look which can be worn casually as well as for more formal occasions, because of its simplicity and style.
Just line the edges of your eyes, winging out the ends for a cat eye.
To achieve this look, try
Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black.
Bold Eyebrows
Long gone are perfectly sculpted, pencil-thin eyebrows. Instead, this season urges you to go for a bolder brow with feathered ends.
During your next tweeze job, brush the ends of your brows out toward your nose to get this look. For fuller-browed ladies who prefer not to pluck, a good brow gel is the best for shaping and giving more natural brows extra definition. Use a well-sharpened pencil to lightly fill in where brow hair might be sparse.
To pump up your brows, try
Maybelline Define-A-Brow Gel or
Cover Girl Brow & Eyemakers.
Grey NailsChanel worked the
grey nail trend last year during the Spring 2010 runway show, now the trend has found itself back on the market. From gunmetal to charcoal to ash to everything in between, this shade is the go-to hue for manicures this fall. Grey nail polish is very versatile and goes with practically anything.
For this trendy look, try
American Apparel Nail Polish in Mouse.
Two-toned Eyeshadow
The two-toned eyes trend can be done mild or wild. Contrasting colors on the lids makes for subtle drama and a super-size effect. Apply the lighter color first on your entire eyelid, then apply the darker shade on the crease of the eye or on the outer corner. Another option is to apply the darker color on the outer half of the lid.
L'Oreal HiP offers duo eye shadows to mix and match.
Try these new fall makeup trends to make this season full of colorful changes, but just don't try them all at once. If you have another favorite look for the season, share it with us in the comments below!
