If you're like most Americans, you're probably bombarded with the flood of emails that come through your inbox that's titled with some sort of amazing deal for the day.
When
Groupon hit the mass market, it was nice to see amazing deals being brought to us with a click of a mouse. Soon after,
LivingSocial followed suit with more deals. But after that, it seemed like everyone was trying to cash in on the same idea and it just became overwhelming for the consumers.
While I am a female, I am not interested in Botox or a subscription to Better Homes and Gardens and I'm sure many can relate. Day after day, the redundancy of receiving laser hair removal and car wash deals got pretty old.
Now, I just click on "Unread" and proceed with "Delete" for deals that come into my email. Occasionally, I will see a deal that I just can't pass up like my recent purchase on LivingSocial for 2 movie tickets on
Fandango that cost me $9.
The truth of the matter is that I am a MOM. I am with my kids almost all the time which means anything that I do needs to be enjoyable for my children. Meet
FamilyFinds, a deal site that caters to the family and my new best friend.
My chief complaint about other deal sites were that they lacked any family related offers, even though LivingSocial does have a Family Edition.
So when I came across this site, it was a breath of fresh air.
I was directed to this site when they had this
amazing deal for a ticket to the movie "
Rio" in 3D for only $3. Of course,
by the time I had reached the site, they were sold out. Like other deal
sites, you put in your location, and the deals for those locations come
up.
I have to tell you, I am so impressed with this site first, because they
don't have any deals that offer spider vein removal or a non-invasive face
lift and they have plenty of deals that have to do with your little ones
In my local area, they have everything from tickets to the Hollywood Wax
Museum to a 50% off on an Annual Pass to the Underwood Farms. Plus,
they also have a "Today's List" where it features seven family-friendly
activities you could do for that week. Over this past weekend, they had a
free Passover Event and a
Chumash Day Powwow (how cool is that?).
The site gets even better. You can also "Suggest A Deal" -- and people like you and me do exactly that -- or just simply vote on other people's suggestions. The deals are then ranked by votes with the Top 40 showing up on the page. Currently, Disneyland is leading the pack, followed by Trader Joes and Legoland. This is definitely clever because it builds a community, and who doesn't like to vote?
After I had explored the entire site, I had to see the faces behind this spectacular idea and guess what? They are parents!
Like any parent, I am starting to run out of ideas and this site is a great way to discover new things and adventures that I may have never known about. Plus, I get to experience it for a fraction of the cost. I look forward to seeing what deals are offered in the near future.
Are there any family-related deals that you would like to see on this site?
