Weekends are usually a time for lounging and relaxing. But what happens when the phone rings announcing the imminent arrival of unexpected guests with no time to clean up laundry, pet hairs and strewn kids socks and clothes.
Here are a few down and dirty tricks for speed cleaning for last minute and little notice...
Depending on how much time you have before your surprise guest appear on your doorstep, you can get your home looking presentable in under an hour or, if need be, less than ten minutes. Room-to-Room Cleaning < One Hour:
Bathroom Towels: Turn hanging towels over. In most cases, the backsides will be untouched and fresh. Rugs: If they are relatively clean, you can pop them into the dryer for a quick fluff. Surfaces: A quick rub down with a paper towel and cleaner will remove most surface dust.
Living Room Sofa/chair: Fluff and straighten cushions. Toys: Get 'em all rounded up and into their storage containers. Tables/shelves: Just a light dust will do, no need to stir it up.
Kitchen Dishes: Empty dish drain and place them into your cabinets, place dirty ones in the sink. Kitchen towels: Flip over instead of replacing. Floor: A quick sweep to pick up larger debris.
Bedroom (if time permits) Bed: Straighten out comforter and tuck sheet corners in. Clothes: Get all those stray socks into the hamper. Closets: Close the doors.
Entry Way Shoes: Grab and stow them in their proper home. Coats: Get them into the closets.
All Over Cleaning < 10 Minutes:
Garbage Remove all of it, then light a candle.
Surfaces Tidy them all up. Pick up the magazines, stack the papers and get the random stuff put away.
Organizeand tuck Make your bed and put the dishes away, store clothes.
