Are We Ready for Some Football?

Two weeks from today the NFL regular season begins. But you already knew that, right? You've been getting ready by watching your favorite team's bench pretend to play during the preseason, reading up on how your team is expected to do, and getting your fantasy picks ready. You've just forgotten one thing: pimping your crib with everything you need for watching the real games. Well, it's not too late.

Here are some of the essentials you're going to need for when the season finally starts:

  • TV: With the price of HDTVs being so affordable now, there's no excuse to watch the game in standard definition. You'll also want a DVR of some sort if you're unfortunate enough to work on Sundays or Monday night. If you're looking for a HDTV deal, eCost has a pretty big selection for less than $200--and we've got eCost coupons to save you even more. We've also got some TiVo deals if you're looking for a DVR.

  • Food: You're gonna want something to munch on while watching the game. I recommend chips and salsa or nachos. I mostly chose the nachos to share this awesome nacho cheese recipe I found a while back. It's amazing and your friends will be in awe at your nacho cheese making skills. If you're looking for a fuller meal, ordering pizza is never a bad idea either.

  • Beer: A football game without beer is like a Chargers team without LT: mediocre. You can either go out and buy your own beer for the game or reap the savings by making your own with tips from Tom (aka Phaedrus) in his recent home brewed beer blog post. You'll also want to get some sort of alternative beverage for your friends who don't drink.

Those are your three basic essentials for the upcoming season. You could also get a new ball to throw around during halftime unless you're into listening to what the analysts have to say. If you want to go all out, you can get jerseys or other apparel to show support for your team. Or perhaps some foam fingers. You can wave them to cheer your team on and use them to mop up any beer spills. We've even got a deal for $10 off orders of $50 or more at Fathead and some Football Fanatics coupons to help with that.

With everything above you should be set for a great season of football. Oh yeah, and go Niners!

Who are you rooting for this season?
