Earlier this week,
DirecTV announced that it would be dropping the gaming network G4 from their service. They cite that it is one of the lowest rated channels they carry as their reason. G4 states it because DirecTV refuses to pay they've been paying them for the last three years. Regardless of what the reason is, DirecTV subscribers have now lost the only gaming network available on TV.
This week, Yasar and I will give you some great alternatives to getting your gaming fix.
- G4TV: G4 features a lot of their content online for the general public free of charge. You can still catch clips of your favorite shows on their site and get gaming news.
- Gametrailers: This site features trailers for games (duh), gaming news, gaming review, and gameplay videos. They're a great resource for researching games before you buy them and often features exclusive trailers for some of the hottest new games. They also have great coverage of an trade shows you're interested in watching live.
- IGN.com and Gamespot: These two sites are very similar and which one you end up choosing to follow is really your choice. Both feature detailed reviews, trailers, gameplay videos, forums and random interesting gaming articles. They're both decent sources of gaming news.
- Gamefaqs: Owned by Gamespot, this is an awesome resource for gamers. They feature user submitted walkthroughs, codes, reviews and loads of other great content to help you get through that awesome game you just bought. They also have some great forums to discuss all things gaming with other gaming connoisseurs.
- The Guy and Yasar Show: You can check out our blog every week for the hottest gaming news with all of the witty commentary you love so much. We're here to make sure you don't miss out on anything while G4 is off the air.
