I have often extolled the virtues of GWPs (Gifts with Purchase) on this blog. It's great to get a pack of new beauty samples to try, plus the smaller sizes are perfect for travel. But then I started wondering about GWOP (Gifts withOUT Purchase). It seems like every week the beauty industry debuts a new product or ingredient with a flurry of marketing. But when you drop your hard-earned coin, you want a known commodity.

I wanted to find you some great freebie offers so you can stock your shower without spending a dime.
HAIR

Right now, there are a bevy of great hair product freebies that are yours for the taking. Try out the new Pantene Customized Care line for free before it hits shelves. Got frizzy hair? John Frieda is giving away a shampoo, conditioner, and original serum. Target is giving away some free Suave products at the moment and I'm loving the new Dove Intensive Repair line that you can try totally free. 

It's not just drugstore brands that offer free samples. Print this Aveda coupon and take it to participating Aveda salons for a free trio of hair care products absolutely free.

SKIN

My first foray into free beauty SWAG was with popular skin care line, Mario Badescu. After filling out this questionnaire about my skin, I received a package of hand picked products perfect for my skin concerns. Sample BORBA products, take Murad for a spin, or try a free Clarins facial treatment by printing this Gift Certificate and bringing it to your Clarins beauty counter.

MAKEUP

Totally free makeup is harder to come by, but offers do exist. Try out the new Clinique High Impact Lip Color, or take this Maybelline Define-a-Lash Lengthening mascara for a spin.

BODY

Try the new Olay Total Effects body wash for free. Guys can test drive the new Dove Men + Care line. Rebates are another great way to get free beauty goodies without draining your wallet. Right now, you can score a rebate on Olay Quench lotion. 

GREAT FREEBIE SITES

My favorite freebie site is Hey It's Free. The blog stays current with freebies that are hard to find elsewhere. Another great resource is freeflys. After just a minute or two of scrolling through their partner offers, you are directed to a page with current freebie offers. If you're like me, and you like to try the latest beauty concoctions first, you might like Vocalpoint. You can try free samples of products, some of which haven't hit the shelves yet, and even get invited to focus groups. This site is looking for feedback for its brands, so what they need from you is to provide your honest opinion on the products you try. Free Samples Direct is another valuable resource, and it doesn't require membership; it just directs you to the latest free sample offers.

OTHER TACTICS

Pick a few brands that you consistently love and join their newsletter, friend them on Facebook, and follow their Twitter. If the brand is big enough, they're bound to offer giveaways to loyal fans from time to time. Olay and Dove especially seem to let their enthusiasts try new formulas for free.

THE DOWNSIDE

Anytime you give out your email address, you are opening yourself up to be spammed. Remember that's what the spam filter is for! Be sure to avoid offers that ask you for participation you're not comfortable with; no free sample is worth a deluge of other annoyances.
