I'm no fashionista- my wardrobe is typically some variation of a nice blouse with pants tucked into boots- or a belted skirt and cardigan. My hair? That's something else entirely. All my life, I've had to deal with frizzy, curly hair, trying to whip it into something manageable and slightly presentable. Regardless of my outfit choice of the day, if my hair looks good, I'm likely to be in a similar mood.
I'll admit it- I've tortured my hair in the past. A natural brunette, I've endured bi-monthly bleaching sessions at the salon for months, to make my coif a platinum blonde. There's only so much your hair can take before it rebels though, so I went back to brunette, where I battled frizz with flat irons and finally underwent a Brazilian Blowout. For only $300, I had sleek hair for three months. For those of you not familiar with this treatment, the stylist applies a chemical to your hair before sealing it with heat. The Brazilian Blowout removes all frizz, so your hair looks stick straight after drying. Of course, you're literally bathing your hair in chemicals, and recently it has come to light that the treatment contains formaldehyde (the cancer-causing ingredient used as a preserving agent). No thanks.
Back to my trusty flat iron it was, which didn't come close to
replicating the smooth hair I'd known. Enter the
Sedu Icon Styling Iron.
With ionic plates that use ceramic
heat, this flat iron promises big results with little damage to your
hair. If you're in a daily habit of using a blow dryer or iron, you know
how important this is. Days and weeks of exposing your hair to
these conditions can take its toll, leading to hair that's brittle and
lackluster.
Our friends over at
Folica recently sent me a
Sedu
Icon Styling Iron to try out, so I put it to the test. Stick straight, frizz-free
hair that lasted from morning to after work? Success! Of course, working
in an air-conditioned office isn't exactly the worst of conditions. A
few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to attend the Coachella Valley Music
and Arts Festival. For those of you not familiar, Coachella is a full
three
days of music set in Indio. The festival ended up humid and drizzly, but
my hair managed to stay straight.
Pros? Light weight and easy to
use, automatic shut off (since I never can seem to remember to hit that
switch), 6 temperature settings up to 450 degrees, and curved edges,
allowing you to curl the ends of your hair.
Cons? It might be
stolen. Seriously. I brought this to
Save Up '12 to make sure I was
picture perfect for my headshot later that day, and word got around to
the DealPros that I was the girl with the flat iron. I had to keep my
eye on several of them who were raving about how much better it was than
their own iron.
Best part?

I have tried everything for my frizzy curly hair. The Chi, the Instyler, creams, oils, you name it I've tried it. Then to make matters worse, I recently developed an allgery to chemicals in most products. I would love to win this. It sounds like a great product.

I've tried different hair straighteners and the best one for me is the Karmin G3 Salon Pro Styling Iron which has tourmaline ceramic plates that cause less damage and keeps my hair soft, shiny and super straight. :)
