The workout DVD, Hoop Yourself Fit, is lead by fitness professional Gin Miller. From the warm-up section, I knew that Gin was my kind of gal. The fact that she doesn’t look overly polished makes it comfortable for the everyday viewer and her tone makes for a very supportive environment. She also makes a few mistakes going off balance and losing control of her hula hoop which makes the whole experience more real rather than staged.

You have 3 workout options which are 15 minutes each. If you have difficulties fitting in a workout routine in your busy schedule, this one is easy enough squeeze in. If you have all the time in the world, go for the entire 45 minutes. The intensity levels go from easy to hard. The best part is that after each workout, it lets you know how many calories you burned which eliminates the guessing game (but I’m sure it ranges from body mass and more). Plus, it shows you an intensity meter to give you an idea of you where you should be on that scale.

The best part of this workout program is the hula hoop. It brings back so many great childhood memories. These hoops are not the plastic ones that you are used to. They work like weights, so they are a little heavier, 3 lbs to be exact. You have to get used to it before it becomes second nature again. You can change the difficulty level by mixing and matching weighted and non-weighted sections. The snap-button connections not only makes it easy to switch between different weights but also makes it easy for travel (only 6 parts).

If you’re looking for a workout regimen that not only whips your body back into shape, but is fun, engaging and schedule-friendly, this one is a great option for you. I like the fact that I can do this program anywhere and at any time. Plus, when my girls hoop, I use this hoop to have some fun alongside them, but the bonus is that I’m actually engaging my core!
