Cutting coupons seems so 1950's housewife. Whenever I think about it, my mind conjures up an image of an immaculately groomed Stepford wife with a frilly apron and an automatic smile plastered on her face as she sits at the dining room table methodically clipping out coupons from the Sunday paper.
But different times call for different scenarios and today's
coupon clippers are way more technologically savvy, resulting in the rise of sites like Savings.com--which not only features thousands of online coupons, but has recently launched a hot "Deal of the Day" offering they've dubbed "
Pounce or Bounce,"
Since we've all migrated to the internet to clip our virtual
coupons, let's take a look at some of the best (
other than Savings.com!) deal sites around.
- Alice.com, the mecca of all online drugstores. It's like Duane Reade, CVS and the Dollar Store collectively pulled together their wares and created a massive online drugstore. The main draw to this deal site is their super easy to use layout. It also tracks when you purchase items, and does a pretty good job of estimating when you'll run out of something and reminding you the next time you sign in--an ideal component for someone like myself who is a chronic last-minute shopper.
- 8coupons.com: There are few better bargains out there than this genius deal website. They get companies to go along with their branding by offering coupons for .88, $8, $80--you get the idea. We're talking .88 manicures, an .88 pasta dinner, and 8 free days of an office sharing service. They also offer other deals for higher prices, but they're "OCHO LOCO" specials are their real selling point. They're not available everywhere, but are located in over 40 major cities, so chances are you're located close to a major deal center.
- Woot.com, the discount site wildcard. Everyone loves a surprise, and that is exactly what you get on Woot, which was recently acquired by Amazon.com. Every day there's a new deal posted. It may be a pair of awesome headphones for $9 or it could be a queen sized memory foam mattress for $250. Either way, it'll be a good deal. And since Woot took off as a cult favorite among internet junkies, they launched Kids.Woot, Shirt.Woot and Deals.Woot and Wine.Woot just to keep things interesting.
