Last Sunday, the MTV Video Music Awards was held at the Nokia Center at L.A. live, and as always, delivered some unforgettable moments. The program also drew about 12.4 million viewers, the networks largest audience ever, with tributes to Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson. Aside from honoring musicians and performances, the VMAs are also an inspirational hub for style and beauty.

These are my favorite makeup looks from the 2011 VMAs and how you can re-create them for less:

Beyonce Knowles

Beyoncé was glowing with her simple elegant look, but not just from her makeup. She announced her pregnancy which was one of the biggest surprises of the night. The music superstar looked stunning with dewy skin, bronzed cheeks and ultra-glossy lips.

For Beyonce's look, try Yves Rocher Pearly Water Foundation for a luminous golden complexion. Get soft smokey eyes with Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Liner Pencil in Sable Brown for around the outer corners of the eye. For extra full, glossy lips use a lip plumper like NYX Plump It Up in Kim.

Kim Kardashian

Newlywed Kim Kardashian (Humphries?) seems to always have neutral-toned makeup which always make her look timeless. Smoky eyes appeared to be the trend at the VMAs and Kim went for a slightly more bold kind of smoky with purple which really made her eyes stand out. The shade went well with a nude lipgloss and her sparkling silver dress--all of which complemented her skin tone.

For the eyes like Kim, use a light purple shade like mark. I-mark Metallics in Jazzy on the lid and hint of shimmery taupe on the crease. To get the classic nude lips, try NYX Lipgloss in Sweetheart.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry had quite the eye catching ensemble with her newly purple pink hair and an aqua colored geisha-esque dress--which was just the beginning of even more unique outfits throughout the night. I've always liked her pin-up look, but the bright and cheery makeup was the perfect complement to her Japanese fairytale theme. She also took home the top prize, winning the Video of the Year award for "Firework."

To get Katy's eyes, try CoverGirl Intense ShadowBlast in Blue Bomb over your entire lid and Intense ShadowBlast in Forever Pink under the brow. Finish off the look with a shimmery pink lip color like Maybelline ColorSensational High Shine in Disco Pink.
