Word has it that Megan Fox lost her
2-carat diamond engagement ring. For those of you who are curious, the ring was lost on the beach somewhere on the Big Island. The staff of the Four Seasons sifted in the sand for a while before coming up empty-handed. Wow, did it fall into quicksand? And, ever heard of a metal detector? Hint hint, to those of you in Hawaii.
Since this is the second time they are engaged, maybe they can use the first ring. Hahaha...just kidding.
Well, they can afford another ring. Just take the insurance money for the lost ring and get a third ring. Maybe it will be even bigger than Megan's first ring...
Gorgeous, isn't it?
This makes me want to covet other
celebrity engagement rings, so I've compiled a short list for your viewing pleasure (
pics compliments of Celebrity Bride Guide).
Ashlee Simpson - 4-carat Asscher-cut engagement ring with a pave diamond frame. Cost:$150,000
Katie Holmes - 5-carat Edwardian style oval cut solitaire diamond ring with pave detail and set in platinum and rose gold. Cost: $250,000
Jennifer Aniston - Brad Pitt co-designed the ring and wanted it to look like a heart and symbolize eternity. Cost: $500,000 (I guess the whole "eternity" thing didn't pan out)
Mariah Carey - A whopping 17-carat emerald cut pink diamond ring. The center stone is 10-carats and has 58 pink diamonds and 2 half moon cut diamonds surrounding it. I just fainted. Cost: $2.5 million. That's more than most people's homes! Sigh. I guess when you're rich and famous, $2.5 million is chump change.
After Mariah's ring, I think you all get the idea: Mo' money, mo' diamonds. On a side note, Jennifer Hudson found her
engagement ring from her fiance buried in the sand, so there is hope for Megan's ring!
So, how should the rest of us "normal" people take care of our precious jewels?
The Knot Wedding Shop highly recommends
jewelry insurance for engagement rings and other important heirlooms and keepsakes.
The yearly cost to insure your ring is $1 to $2 for every $100 that it
would cost to replace. In plain English, this means that if your ring
would cost $9,000 to replace, you might expect to pay between $90 and
$180 per year to insure it--or slightly more in cities where the risk
of theft is higher.
$180 a year is easier to swallow than thousands of dollars in one fell swoop. And gentlemen, for that little extra assurance, do
NOT propose in the sand!
