Now that summer is in full force, it's important to protect yourself from the sun. Many commercial sunscreens contain ingredients that can cause cancer, which I find to be totally ironic. Choosing a natural sunscreen and following some sun safety tips can help limit your risk for skin cancer.
- Choose a natural sunscreen like Badger Sunscreen. Their sunscreen contains many organic ingredients, and blocks both UVA and UVB rays. Badger Sunscreen is one of the most natural ones I've found.
- Limit your exposure to the sun. I personally can't be out in the sun too long or I start feeling sick. I have to make sure that I limit myself to periods of sun exposure where I know I won't be getting a sunburn or getting sick. Your body has a natural way of telling you when you've had enough sun.
- Protect your body from the sun with physical barriers. If you're going to the beach, pack a big umbrella or tent. You'll have a place to go to get away from the sun. Wear a hat so your face doesn't get too much sun. You can purchase a full body swimsuit for skin protection if you're a surfer or someone who frequents the beach often.
- Start protection from the inside out. Many foods are helpful in protecting your skin. Try eating: blueberries, raw honey, flaxseeds, water, hempseeds, goji berries and raw cacao. Yum!
These are some of the ways you can protect yourself naturally from the sun. What is your sun protection favorite tip?

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate your body. If you are out walking in the sun or shade, fatigue's #1 cause is dehydration. Pour on the suntan lotion, wear light airy long sleeves and drink lots of water.
