Last week I shared some
natural antibiotic remedies. One of the best things you can do for preventive medicine and your health is to consume probiotics, which help line your gut flora with good bacteria. When you have enough good bacteria, it's much less likely you'll get develop an illness. Probiotics also make you feel good!
There are many ways to increase your intake of probiotics, and you can find many commercial varieties to buy and take. I've found they are a little more expensive than I'd like to spend, so I've looked into other ways to get the good bugs in.
- Learn how to make water kefir. Once you purchase the grains, you are good for life, as long as your grains don't die. You could actually purchase some water kefir grains with a friend and split them because they multiply like crazy when the conditions are right. Water kefir is an awesome natural soda alternative too.
- Drink kombucha. Kombucha is a fermented tea (I know; it sounds gross!) that contains many beneficial probiotics, vitamins, and amino acids. You can make kombucha yourself in your house, and it's actually kind of fun!
- Learn how to ferment veggies and make your own sauerkraut. Homemade sauerkraut is awesome. It's really easy to make and keeps for a long time. Making your own sauerkraut is also one more step to self-sufficiency!
Consuming probiotics is really good for your digestive system and your health. Keep your immune system strong with natural probiotics. You don't have to spend a lot of money to be healthy!
Do you consume probiotics?
