The Wii has thrived on the novelty idea of motion control and was quickly a best-selling console. As people flocked to get their hands on it Microsoft and Sony watched idly as Nintendo became a huge competitor again. Microsoft is finally answering with Project Natal.
This week, Guy and I will explore the Playstation Move, Sony's attempt at motion control.
The Playstation Move is somewhat of a hybrid of Project Natal and the
Wiimote. It comes with two sticks and camera to track your motion. The
sticks are used as controllers and the camera is used to locate where
you are. The difference between Playstation Move and the Wii controls
is that the camera will tell you exactly where you are in real space.
This means if you take a step in any direction, the PS3 will know which direction.
As you all know, last week we let you know why the Wii was a big disappointment. It was mostly because of its poor choice of game selection and graphics. Sony seems like they're more prepared to take advantage of their motion controls with better game selection right off the bat. With games like Socom 4, they're making sure it won't be a big let down like the Wii.
That about wraps up what the Playstation Move is about. Sony says it should cost less than $100 for the bundle when it's released later this year. Heather was also kind of enough to send me this Playstation Move ad which bashes Project Natal and the Wii. Bold move Sony, bold move.
