Prescriptives Calls it Quits

Prescriptives, the cult favorite beauty line by parent company Estee Lauder, announced last fall that they are shuttering the brand.  Prescriptives set themselves apart by being one of the first beauty lines to offer customizable foundation color.  If Prescriptives is your go-to, you may be wondering where to turn to find the same results you get from your perennial favorite products now that they will be no longer available.  My advice?  Stock up now with sites like amazon.com, ebay.com, and of course Prescriptives.com. 

I figured out a few substitutes for your favorite old standbys to keep you looking polished even after Prescriptives has departed.

The Old Favorite:  False Eyelashes Mascara

Everyone from beauty bloggers to Cosmo magazine to everyday women sing this mascara's praises. It has a thick, fluffy brush, emollient properties, and it lengthens like crazy.  What will take its place?

The New Favorite: For a similar brush, try BadGAL by Benefit.  It gives big sultry lashes at around the same price point.  There's also Estee  Lauder BOLD VOLUME LIFTING MASCARA which will no doubt be as close as it comes since Estee Lauder manufactures Prescriptives.

The New BUDGET Favorite: L'Oreal Bare Natural Mascara is the obvious choice.  It keeps lashes supple while lengthening like crazy, plus boasts natural ingredients like Prescriptives, and has a comparable brush.

The Old Favorite: Super Line Preventer Xtreme

This fan favorite erase wrinkles and boosted collagen.  What's should a dedicated follower of this anti-aging marvel try next?

The New Favorite: Phyto-C Skincare has comparable active ingredients ( hyaluronic acid  and Vitamin C), as does Derma-E. 

The New BUDGET Favorite: Use Juice Organics Vitamin Antioxidant Serum for a similar anti-aging boost at less than half the price of your old product. 

The Old Favorite: Virtual Skin

This super light, seamless foundation had devotees swooning.  Once their stash runs out, how will they recreate its porcelain effect?

The New Favorite: Estee Lauder Lucidity has a similar formula and a light diffusing effect that keeps skin looking natural. 

The New BUDGET Favorite: L'Oreal True Match provides that custom blended feel at a fraction of the price.  Fair skinned girls seemed to be Prescriptives biggest devotees, and L'Oreal caters to even the fairest of complexions.

The Old Favorite: Camouflage Cream

The perfect concealer for covering blemishes AND under eye circles is now going be long gone.  How will beauty mavens get their concealing fix?

The New Favorite: Bobbi Brown concealer receives nothing but raves and comes in a wide assortment of shades. 

The New BUDGET Favorite: Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda comes with a palette of shades, so you can custom blend the perfect shade to hide your every imperfection.  And at less than $10 a pop, you can't really go wrong.

It's always sad when you're favorite product is discontinued, but don't fret...you will love again!
