Quirky Momma: Ways to Recharge Your Day

As a working mom of four, balancing the stresses of job expectations, kids needs and household necessities seems to drain my energy reserves.  I need to recharge and while I would love to have a personal masseuse on-hand, it's not quite practical.

Here are some easy and free ways to give yourself a pick-me up without breaking your bank or taking away from your responsibilities at home.

An Act of Kindness.

Intentionally go above and beyond in your care of another person today.  This may be the cashier at the checkout, or your spouse, or a co-worker.  Try to think of something that will make their day.  Put a smile on their face and wear one yourself.

Exercise.

Exercise releases endorphins, promotes your health, and is a great way to relieve stress.  Is there something you are frustrated with?  Go run it out!  Are you tired?  Get a second wind of energy by working out.

Cup of Coffee.

Coffee contains caffeine which has long been known for it's ability to give a jolt of energy and awareness to weary bodies and foggy brains.  In addition to caffeine, coffee also contains anti-oxidants which have anti-inflammatory properties and help fight free-radicals.

Go Outside.

Often all we need to liven up our circumstances is a change of scenery.  Go enjoy some sunshine and fresh air.  Enjoying a daily dose of sunshine will help regulate your sleep pattern and give you a healthy dose of vitamin D.  Our skin creates vitamin D as a reaction to sunlight.  That Vitamin D helps build our immune systems and our bones.  Can't go outside?  Consider supplements.

Feed Your Brain.

Get a hobby.  A bored mind is a mind that is more easily frustrated and depressed.  Give your brain something to do.  Find something that you are passionate about and explore it--then share your passion with others.
