Many New Year's resolutions revolve around the never-ending battle of the bulge. Others include buying as much cool stuff as possible. Okay, that last one isn't really a resolution. Or is it?  Samsung has just rolled out a portable music player that also takes into consideration your basic nutrition and overall wellness.

That's right, the Samsung MyFit is "the world's first portable media player to integrate wellness management tools, such as stress and body fat levels and customized workout guides."

The MyFit has FM radio (wait, people still listen to that? When will the commercial radio dinosaur die? What's the next big feature? AM Talk? Ahem, I digress), allows you to play videos, music obviously, and stores photos. Basically it does everything your standard iPod does while also assisting you in monitoring your body performance during your workouts. There is also some innovation in terms of sound quality and output packed into the device. On the workout side it uses fat and stress sensors to help you track and manage the ideal workout program for your overall health regimen.

So who is excited about this product? I think anything that seeks to meld the perfect music mix with a great gym session is just this side of awesome. Now is it a must-have product? Probably not. But if you're looking for a reason to pick up a new portable music player and happen to also be looking for a way to motivate yourself to shed some extra pounds, this could be the device for you. If you already have a great MP3 player though, just grab a pad, a pen (archaic tools from another century) and track your nutrition levels and fat-loss the old fashioned way.
