Back again and flying solo this week, I thought I'd move off of the couch and take a break from video games to talk a bit about sports and fitness. We all remember that era pre-tweet when social networking actually involved real face to face human interaction. Well, I recently had an opportunity to sit down with the creators of Wefitfor2, a unique couples workout DVD focused on "two key tenets that will ultimately change your life: commitment and connection."

They have developed a core concept that they refer to as "Partnering." As explained on the We Fit For 2 website, a partnering workout consists of "utilizing your own body weight against a partner's to achieve maximum body-changing results." It is an ever-evolving workout routine designed to bring couples closer together.

In talking to Dean Graham, an experienced personal trainer, respected yoga instructor and one-half of the DVD's instructor duo, I learned that the core mission of the Wefitfor2 team involves both changing the way couples approach fitness together as well as finding a way for those very same couples to save money while achieving both a physical and mental closeness perhaps missing prior to beginning the Wefitfor2 workout.

Guy: So Dean, how did the concept for the DVD come about and what were you guys trying to achieve by developing this type of workout for couples?

Dean
: Well, we looked at most fitness products out there and just honestly didn't feel as though they were very good. We wanted to come up with something that was really effective. We thought that, in many instances, couples really don't have an opportunity to spend as much time together as they would like. As you know, relationships require time and everyone is so busy doing all the things they need to do -- putting food on the table, busy careers, even going to the gym -- that everything just adds up to people spending even more time apart. So what we wanted to try and do was come up with a way for couples to spend more time together and be interactive. Not just sit around watching TV together. So basically the idea behind all of this was to give partners an opportunity to do something that would genuinely work and help to change their bodies while at the same time giving them an opportunity to connect, commit and work on intimacy.

Guy: That sounds good to me. I see looking at your site, that you guys have recently lowered the price on the DVD set as well. You seem to have an eye towards making it affordable and helping the couples save a little bit of money during these tough financial times.

Dean: Definitely. We are currently running a promotion where we are offering the workout for $39.95, which is a 20% discount off our normal pricing, in an effort to help couples get in shape for the summer.

Guy: Discounts are always nice. We're obviously big fans of those here at Savings.com.

Dean: Absolutely, so are we. We always looked at price with an eye towards what was already out there in the marketplace and just went from there. That's what most people are doing right? Initially we priced it in terms of what we felt the value was for the content, the quality of production, the fact that it's three DVDs, etc. After awhile we started to consider the economy, the number of people who are out of work these days and everything else associated with the recession we're still in and thought that now would be a great time to lower the price. No matter what changes are going on with the economy, people are still concerned with fitness. We still need to be healthy, if for no other reason than as a preventive measure seeing as how health care is still costing us a ton of money out of pocket. On top of that we still need the energy to do the things we have to do everyday to put food on the table, whether it's working long hours or job hunting. I believe we need a certain level of fitness for that and exercise is so fundamentally important for sense of self. It helps build general confidence when you are fit and taking care of your body. Bottom line, we wanted to make this a more affordable way for couples to get in shape together and in reality we have a product now sitting at $39.95 that is less than your average monthly gym membership.

Guy: That's pretty much what my wife and I pay. $40 per month each, $80 total per month.

Dean: It's pretty crazy. In New York City, for instance, certain gym memberships can average $100+/month. In the rest of the country there are very few that would cost you less in total than our product. So instead of spending $40 - $100 a month you get a 3DVD set for about $40 total that will teach you how to work out together, with routines you can do anytime, anywhere, anyplace. One time cost.

Guy: I'm sure the wife will like hearing that. It's great that you guys are looking at the value aspect of the product to the consumer as well as the fitness benefits of the workout itself.

Dean: We have an audience that is looking for a great way to work out together and we feel it's our duty to give them their money's worth at a great cost.

Guy: What's the best way for people to get their hands on the Wefitfor2 workout?

Dean: Anyone who wants a copy can head over to our website at wefitfor2.com. We have a pretty user friendly site and easy ordering process thanks to our friends over at Jersey Shore Creative who put the whole thing together. We also have a media section, instructor bios, testimonials, and a ton of information explaining the goals and general nature of the workouts themselves. We strive to be different and offer a unique instructional fitness video that will help couples achieve their ideal body goals in an intimate, healthy way.

Guy: I know you're focused on this product right now, but are there any other projects the team is working on, any other areas you might be looking to branch out into as far as health and fitness are concerned? What are your future goals as far as couples and fitness in general?

Dean: We are certainly still working to make this product a success, so it will be awhile before we launch anything new. But we do have quite a few things that we are already storyboarding if you will. Some are couples oriented, such as a possible yoga concept and a cardio routine. Others are completely unrelated to the current product, and are more focused on just fitness in general, not necessarily couples oriented, such as an MMA training/workout DVD. So we have plans, but right now the focus is definitely on Wefitfor2.

Guy: Sounds good. Anything else you want people to know about the product? I know you guys have been featured in a few media outlets recently.

Dean: Anyone who is interested in learning more about us can obviously check out the website as well as our Youtube page for short clips from the workout.

Wefitfor2 was also featured on NBC's Today Show on the 23rd.

Also, if you happen to be riding in a New York City taxi anytime soon we also struck a deal where we're featured on New York City Taxi TVs. Finally, next week or the following week, we will be doing an interview with Good Morning America if anyone wants to keep an eye out for that to check out what we're all about.

Guy: Any last words to our readers before we sign off?

Dean: Sure. We designed this workout for you guys, the couples out there looking for a nice way to connect with your partner without having to travel to an overpriced, smelly gym. I hope you find some time to check out the site, like what you see, and join us for a great workout experience.

Thanks Dean for stopping by the Guy minus Yasar Show. That's it for this week folks. Be sure to watch the comments section as the Wefitfor2 guys are signing up and will be posting to interact and field any questions you might have throughout the week. They were also kind enough to drop off a couple copies of the workout. So be on the lookout for a contest giveaway in the coming weeks.
