This weekend, Sara, Soam and I have been kicking it in the windy city (well, 45 miles northwest of the windy city anyway) at the first ever Financial Blogger Conference (aka FINCON11 on Twitter).  Not only we were proud to sponsor the event which was brilliantly coordinated by Phil Taylor of PT Money, but we debuted our Wordpress plugin and widget to a very impressive group of personal finance blogger attendees.

The conference was also a great opportunity to reconnect with some of our awesome DealPros like Kelly Whalen of The Centsible Life, Plutus Award winner Donna Freedman and Andrew and Gyutae of Money Crashers.  In addition we had the opportunity to hang out with the Silicon Valley Blogger from The Digerati Life, the winner of our FINCON ticket giveaway Hunter Montgomery of Financially Consumed, multi-Plutus award winner J. Money of Budgets are Sexy and Kyle of PerkStreet.

While networking and socializing was definitely a big part of the conference, there was an amazing slate of speakers and presentations during Saturday as well.  The conference kicked off with J. D. Roth of Get Rich Slowly talking about "Why We Write" which featured a cameo appearance by a Klingon warrior.

Who says personal finance is boring, huh?

Wise Bread co-founder Will Chen did a presentation on Getting to 1 Million Page Views on a Small Budget and his partner Greg Go offered up insights in to the SEO Secrets Wise Bread employs.

One of the many highlights of the conference was Ramit Sethi of I Will Teach You to be Rich who kicked off his presentation with a hilarious video.

Suffice to say his presentation was as energetic, entertaining and irreverent as the video depicts...

That's only a small portion of the schedule of amazing speakers who rallied together to make this first ever conference an amazing event. We learned a lot and made new friends like Plutus award winner Punch Debt in the Face and Brittany of Betterment.com--just to name a few.  It was a great conference and we're so glad we got to take part in it.
