So, you are in the market for a new home? Congratulations! This is a big step in your life--no matter what you end up buying. If you are like most home buyers you have many worries on your mind. Above all else, you probably want to get the best deal possible in terms of price.
Choose an experienced real estate agent. Your agent will guide you through the buying process. This includes helping you find a home in your price range, comparing it to others, and getting the best possible deal. Rely on their experience and expertise every step of the way.
Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate. Even though the seller is in the driver's seat, you should not feel compelled to pay the asking price. With the help of your agent, feel out the seller and make an offer that is reasonable. Soon enough you will get a good idea for how much the seller is willing to negotiate.
Hint: there is more to negotiating than the price. You can also ask the seller to pay closing costs, and/or include appliances in the deal.
Don't get too anxious. When you find a home you love it is hard to keep your cool and be patient. That being said, it is an absolute must. If you get ahead of yourself you will begin to stretch your limits, and quite possibly pay more for the home than you have to.
Saving money on a new home is not rocket science. If you follow the tips above you will be in position to buy the right home at the right price.
