This week, the Yasar and Guy Show has rounded up the latest video game news that promises to directly affect your man purses (or lady wallets) in a good way. Many recent money predictions from industry expert Michael Pachter (known to be very accurate in predicting changes in the market) have pointed to future savings for gamers worldwide.

Guy: The PS3, which has seen steady, increasing sales over the last year, is likely poised to experience a drop in price sometime later this year. According to an article at IndustryGamers.com, a PS3 price drop is speculated to see a decrease from the $299 cost of a 160 GB unit to the more wallet-friendly retail price of $199 for the same basic unit.

Yasar: In another discussion, Pachter also claimed that with their 40% increase in sales, Microsoft was in the best position to to cut the price of their console.  He claims that a "$299 price point for a Kinect/250Gb 360 bundle would force Sony to bundle Move with a PS3 at the same price point, and we think that Wii sales will suffer mightily with such competitive pricing."  This is great news for those who have been holding off on buying a new console.  That's a $100 price cut from the bundle's current price.

Guy: Sites like Gamestop also offer frequent bundle deals on consoles. These bundles often contain long-run savings, packed as they are with accessories and games that normally would cost more if purchased separately.

Yasar: While I am not an expert on when the console prices will be cut or by exactly how much they'll be cut, I do know that Dell offers great console deals and will have occasional price cuts by as much as $40.  For those who are waiting for a great deal on a new video game console, your time could be coming soon. There have been rumors flying for quite a while on the successor of the Nintendo Wii.  Some people predict it will be an HD version of the current Wii, while others predict it will be a new console altogether.  The only thing we know for sure is that when the new console is released, the price of this generation's Wii will drop.  Going on nothing but speculation, I believe Nintendo will reveal details of their new console at this year's E3 conference.

Guy: I'd look for a price drop announcement for the Wii 1 around the same time.
