Traveling is one of the best experiences in the world. You get to experience a new city, new people, new food, pretty much new everything. The only hard part about it is staying in shape. Since you're probably not going to have a kitchen, you'll be eating out a lot more (and most likely eating less healthy). However, just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you need to toss out your entire workout routine.
Here are some great ways to stay in shape without taking anything away from your experience:
Walking: Instead of shelling out money for a cab or taking public transportation, why not just walk everywhere. Not only will you save money (which I assume you want to do since you're checking out Savings.com), but it's more fun. I went on a six week trip to Europe a few years ago and found that I was able to take in a lot more by walking than take a cab or bus. Sure you might get lost, but that's half of the fun of it. I can't count how many great places I stubmled upon when I was lost (it's actually how I found the Coliseum and Vatican City when I was in Rome). If getting lost isn't your thing, just bring along a map. They're cheap and you probably want one even if you're taking public transportation.
Bike: Another great way of keeping healthy is by renting a bike. Nearly every city has a place where you can rent a bike to check out the city. It's a great way to cover a lot of ground but still see what the city has to offer. You can mark places you want to check out later on your map as well in case you don't feel like stopping at every place you see. Some cities even have systems where you can just park the bike somewhere and have someone else pick it up for you to save you time. If you prefer taking a tour, many places have bike tours you can take. Fat Tire, for example, offers bike tours in Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, and Paris. Just be warned, they're more pricey than biking around yourself.
Hotel Room: When taking longer trips, there are going to be days when you're going to be too tired to go out and do anything. These are perfect days for working out in your room. You can do some push-ups and sit-ups to get your blood flowing. If you're lucky enough to be staying somewhere with a gym, take advantage of it. It's better than just watching TV in your room or staring at the wall. If you're staying in a beach town you can go swimming in the ocean or do some laps in the pool. After working out, you'll feel more relaxed and be ready to do a lot more the next day.
Most people understand the importance of staying in shape these days and don't want their routine to be ruined because they're on vacation. They also don't want to waste most of their vacation worrying about staying in shape. These methods will all help you have a more enjoyable trip and keep you in shape.
