Try Before You Buy with a Video Game Demo

Video games have been progressively getting more and more expensive.  The average game for your PS3 or Xbox is $60, and for Wii it's $50.  That's a lot of money for something you don't know whether you're going to like or not.  Fortunately there is a way to increase the chances you're going to like the game before you shell out the bucks: game demos.

Game demos give you a chance to play a game before dropping half your paycheck on it.  There really is a lack of things you get to try before you buy these days, so a game demo is a great way of taking advantage of that.  Imagine if you were put in an arranged marriage and it ended up being miserable.  You'd probably wish you knew it was going to be miserable before you tied the knot.  Well, game demos let you do that (with games, not spouses).

They give you a pretty good idea of what the story and gameplay are going to be like when you get actual version when it's released.  They also give you a chance to play some games before they are released.  This is perfect for impatient children (and grown-ups like Guy and Yasar...) who want to play the game months before the release date.  That way when the game is released you can make a more informed decision on whether you want the game right away, or you want to wait until the price drops to $10.

The best part about a demo is the usual price-tag attached to them. Unless you get a demo copy that comes with another game you purchased, most pre-release demos are a whopping FREE DOLLARS and NO CENTS. It doesn't get any cheaper than that, folks.  And you can download the demos from the comfort of your couch.  You can either go the PSN store on your PS3, Xbox Marketplace for you Xbox 360, Wii shop for your Nintendo Wii, or Amazon for PC game demos.

That's our video game saving tip of the week.  Guy wishes game demos had been out earlier so he would have known that Bratz Rock Angelz for PS2 would have sucked.  I know that's totally unrelated but I just thought I'd throw that out there.  For more money saving tips check us out on Twitter @YasarSavings and @SavingsGCapes.
