Wacky Product of the Week: Dust Extinguisher Mini Desktop Vacuum

If you’re like me and you are online more than 8 hours every day (even if I didn’t work from home, I guarantee I’d spend half my life on this new-fangled contraption)…AND you have two cats who like to make beds out of your laptop’s warm keyboard (or curled up against the vents or in my lap looking at the computer or sitting on top of the desktop unit…really, they’re not picky), then you know how messy your work space can get sometimes. With pets, the usual dirt and dust, and even eating at your desk, your desktop can be a really messy place.

But I’m here to help. Well, okay, I’m not really going to do anything except point you in the direction of this week’s wacky product, the Dust Extinguisher Mini Desktop Vacuum.

Try saying that ten times fast. With the Dust Extinguisher Mini Desktop Vacuum (going to call it DEMDV for short, it’s quite catchy that way), which is made to look like a cute little fire extinguisher (awww, so cuuuute), you can sweep away crumbs with the push of a button. Actually, it works the opposite of a fire extinguisher–instead of blowing things away, it sucks things up. So crumbs beware! Cat hair, beware! Any…random crap on your desk, beware!!

This little baby stores all the trash and debris it picks up in the handy little pop-off container, for easy cleanup, and takes 2 AA batteries, so you can easily use it as often as you like. I wish it came with a little brush or something to get all the stuff inside my keyboard on my laptop (oh cats, I love you, but you are so hairy!), but really, how much can you expect from a 7″ vacuum?

Pretty handy, and for $13 from Vat19, not a bad deal either.

The irony. It looks like an extinguisher that puts something out and yet it sucks something in – I want to say it’s clever but I also want to say, “Why?” What goes on inside the minds of inventors?
