Wacky Product of the Week: Elliptical Machine Office Desk

How much would you pay to get in shape while sitting on your butt at work, without even breaking a sweat? One million dollars? Five million dollars?? Twenty-eight million dollars?!

Okay, well that's a lot of money, so thankfully the geniuses over at Hammacher Schlemmer have an Elliptical Machine Office Desk for just $8,000.

The beauty of this gadget is in its simplicity:  It's a desk, and it's an elliptical. You can exercise on it while you work or just work or even just exercise. The adjustable-height desk attaches or detaches to a pedaling elliptical trainer machine so that you can sit in your office and pedal while you work.

Apparently you can seriously burn up to 4,000 calories/week with this baby, so how is this not worth $8,000?? I almost wrote them a letter to say I'd be willing to pay twice that! I mean, lazy people plus a cushiony chair plus something that semi works you out (and boasts not to break a sweat at that)—how can any of this be wrong? Put a friggin' donut in my hand while I pedal and work? I could be livin' the dream, my friends. Livin' the dream.

I think this is the kind of thing George Costanza would have loved.
