Telling time can be really hard. But it doesn't have to be. If all those numbers weren't in the way, I think it would be much easier and the makers of the
Kaidoku LCD Word Watch over at
TokyoFlash.com agree with me. Instead of an old plain Jane watch with a clock face, 12 digits, and two hands, this watch minimizes your time-telling efforts by letting you read the time with words instead of numbers.
Apparently Kaidoku means
to decode or
decipher in Japanese, but you
won't need any help reading this watch. All the possible number
combinations are written out on the watch face, with highlights on the
words for the current time. So if it's 5:07 at night, your Kaidoku will
highlight "FIVE, ZERO, SEVEN, PM".
This watch is really perfect for those of us who failed Kindergarten
math! Just think: no more confusing minute or second hands to fret over. No more
random people asking, "What time is it?" and you looking down and having
to stall to figure it out because there are too many numbers. Digital time? Pfft, that is so 2010. Let's
just make it simple and use our words!
The funniest thing is that I don't even use watches and know maybe five
people who do. Don't most of us just use our cell phones for that?
