Wacky Product of the Week: Last Minute Stocking Stuffers

It's getting down to the wire now. Just one week until the holidays are upon us and we all inevitably pack into the nearest CVS or grocery store to pick up gift cards for all the people whose gifts won't be arriving in time. Or at least, that's how it always seems to happen for me. One minute, it's Thanksgiving and I'm totally stoked for the holiday season--I'm making my list...and then BAM, it's Christmas Eve and I've only gotten things for myself from killer Black Friday sales.

Well, not this year! This year, I'm picking up last minute gifts that sure to wow my friends and family, including a Han Solo in Carbonite Ice Tray, 2012 Bubble Calendar and the Sharp-End Dog Pencil Sharpener.

That's right. Bet you didn't see those amazing ideas coming. Blew you away with my awesomeness, didn't I?

Han Solo in Carbonite Ice Tray
First up is a classic staple in any nerd's household: a Han Solo in Carbonite Silicone Ice Tray. It may not exactly fit in all stocking sizes, but at just $10 it's a fun and unique gift for any Star Wars fan. I particularly love anything that shows Han Solo in Carbonite and there are a million gift opportunities for that, so I'll never be lacking.

This is even more fun, since you can watch Han bob and float in your ice tea! I don't know why that's fun, but trust me, it is. And as a last minute gift, you really can't go wrong. I've linked to only one of many places that sell this killer item. And yes, he knows you love him.

Next up is a fun item for anybody with a drained attention span: check out the 2012 Bubble Calendar. Yes, friends, it's finally here - a bubble wrap calendar that you can poke and pop one day at a time for an entire year! And because 2012 is a leap year, you get one extra bonus day of awesome bubble-popping fun.

It's kind of hefty for a stocking stuffer at $24 and ideally, I'd probably buy two in case I pop all 366 bubbles in the first day alone, but it's such a fun idea. Weird, but fun!

I know a bunch of people who may be getting this as holiday gifts this year...including my two cats, because anything they can step on and break for less than $50 is a win-win.

Third and last but certainly not least on my list of weird stocking stuffers is the Sharp-End Dog Pencil Sharpener. I um...I really don't need to say anything about why I picked this, right?

You can see for yourself based on the image and title exactly what you do with it. I guess the company who manufactured this motto is: if you're going to stick a pencil somewhere, it may as well be at the rear end of a plastic dog that barks while you do it.

Smooth marketing campaign. Pure genius. And just $12.

I guess I can't envision why you'd pay anything over that, but it would amuse quite a few family and friends, sadly.

And there you have it. Your last-minute holiday gifts done. You're welcome.
