Keeping Your Promotional Pricing with Time Warner Cable

Have you ever gotten an alert from your Time Warner Cable that your prices went up?  I have, plenty of times.  So how do you keep a promotional rate going without having to pay the high prices?

Call them.

Last Friday, my internet rate went up from $44.99 to $52.99.  I called immediately and the first representative didn't offer me any promotions.  The second time I called, the representative offered me $44.99 or $39.99 with a credit card on file.  I chose to get the $39.99 with credit card on file for the next 6 months, which is a $13 savings each month.

Most likely the first time you call them, they'll say that the promotional period just ended and to call back at a later date for another promotion.  Once you hear that cue, nicely mention that you were told by another associate that there was a new promotion every 3 months and if they could check on any promotions you qualify for.

At first, they may offer a bundle service as a way to save or even say that there are promotional offers for new customers only.  Know that there are promotional rates for existing customers as well.

If they give you a hard time, be nice and hang up.  Wait 5 minutes and call back again.  I usually secure my new promotional rate during the first call but sometimes it does take 2 to 3 calls before I get it.

Do you have any tips on securing a low rate with your service provider?
