It's the holidays! Santa and his elves have been busy all year making toys for good girls and boys. Have you been naughty or nice? Santa knows (
wink). The reindeer are excited. The elves are busy. Mrs. Claus however wants Santa to relax a little before his big day. She has rented the most popular Christmas movies from
Netflix.
From classics to comedy to action--here is a list of Christmas movies that will get anyone in the mood for the holidays.
Black & White Classics
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
Classic film rated as the most watched Christmas movie of all time. A despondent businessman tired of an unfulfilled life about to jump off a bridge, but an angle intervenes and shows him what life would be like had the man never been born.
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
A little girl does not believe in Santa. A sweet old man named Kris Kringle believes he is the real Santa. Through a series of peculiar events, people who have contact with Kris begin to believe that he just might be the real thing.
Holiday Inn (1942)
Crooner tired of show business retires to a farm, which he converts into a hotel opened only during the holidays. He falls for a beautiful woman, but so does another man. Sing and dance your way through this favorite Christmas movie.
Comedies
Home Alone (1990)
An eight-year old boy left at home alone when his family flies to France for the holidays. He must muster up the courage to protect his home from idiotic robbers who know the boy is all alone.
Elf (2003)
Elves by nature are a small people. This Elf, however, is unusually large. Not fitting in with the other elves, the big Elf gets permission from Santa to set out on a quest to New York City to find his biological father.
The Santa Clause (1994)
Santa Claus accidentally falls off a roof and dies on Christmas Eve. Wait, don't cry, there's more. According to the "Santa Contract Clause," the man who found Santa must now take his place. This is a great Christmas movie to watch with the entire family.
Action
Die Hard (1988)
New York cop visits his estranged wife during her company's Christmas party. His plans to reconcile take a back seat when terrorists overtake the building. By far the best Christmas-themed action film ever made.
The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)
A schoolteacher has amnesia. She cannot remember anything beyond eight years ago when she woke up injured and pregnant. Her past life catches up with her and she soon discovers she is an assassin who worked for the C.I.A.
Lethal Weapon (1987)
In this movie that takes place during the holidays, a veteran cop paired to work with an unstable, homicidal, younger cop. They must both learn to work together to stop a gang of drug smugglers. Despite their differences, they find common ground when the drug smugglers kidnap the veteran's cop eldest daughter.
