Earth Day: n. – A day’s observance of the need to protect the Earth’s environment, in many countries on April 22. The first Earth Day was organized in 1970 to promote the ideas of ecology, encourage respect for life on earth, and highlight growing concern over pollution of the soil, air, and water. –

This year’s Earth Day freebies include a free reusable shopping bags, free cups of coffee from Starbucks and Whole Foods Coffee Bar, free samples of beauty products for recycling your old beauty products, free entry into National Parks and more. Kids freebies available are free Earth Day printable games, crafts and coloring sheets, a free baseball cap for recycling at the Disney Store. Kids can even make a free bird house at Lowes then go get a free organic milkshake from EVOS. Free Reusable Tote – Offer from Target, in stores 4/17 for the first one million customers nationwide. Get there early if you want one–last year they ran out in just a few hours.

Free Reusable Bag – At Disney Stores, 4/22. Call your local store to make sure they are participating. The Offer: Bring in 5 plastic grocery bags at Disney Stores and receive a reusable shopping tote. While supplies last.

Free Origins Product – In store, 4/22. Bring in your empty cosmetics (bottles, tubes, jars and compacts, any brand) to any Origins store for recycling and get free Origins samples.

Free Starbucks Coffee or Tea – Bring any reusable coffee mug to Starbucks on 4/22 and get a free coffee.

One Free Coffee – Offer from Whole Foods Coffee Bar. Bring in a reusable mug on 4/22 from 9am – 9pm to get a free coffee.

Caffeine addicts, rejoice!  Caribou Coffee is also offering free coffee for Earth Day.  Just bring your reusable mug on Friday, April 22nd and enjoy a cuppa joe for free.  And after Earth Day bringing reusable drinkware scores you 50 cents off any drink, any time.

Free EVOS Milkshake – 4/22 10am – 10pm. “Support Organic Family Farmers. Join us at your neighborhood EVOS in celebration of Earth Day and enjoy a FREE homemade Organic Milkshake. No purchase necessary.”

Free Youth Size Baseball Cap – Offer from Disney Stores, 4/22.

“Disney Store is celebrating Earth Day with an activity families can do together to teach kids to recycle and keep unnecessary trash out of our waterways. Fight for a clean, healthy and sustainable environment and be part of the solution! Bring in SIX empty plastic bottles or soda cans to the Disney Store on Thursday, 4/22. Free Entry into National Parks – National Park Week, 4/16 – 4/24. Visit any of the 394 National Parks for free.

Earth Day Weekend WorkshopsHome Depot, 4/21 – 4/23.  A variety of free workshops designed to help facilitate a “greener” lifestyle.  See site for details and workshop descriptions.

Story time for kids – 4/22 at Pottery Barn Kids. “Join us at 11am or 2pm for story time featuring tales about caring for the planet, as well as other earth-friendly activities.Throughout the day, we’ll be giving kids a special gift that they can plant at home!

Free Earth Day Projects For Kids – Offer From Kaboose. Free games, printables and crafts.

Free Lowes Build & Grow Clinic – Saturday 4/23 at 10am. Kids can build a birdhouse for free. It’s suggested you register online since space is limited. Not necessarily an Earth Day offer, but feeding birds has to be earth-friendly somehow.

Earth Day Story App for Kids – Offer from iTunes. For iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch.

Free Tree – Texas Only. Visit the Green Mountain booth at the locations and dates listed on their page to get a free tree to plant.
