Are you still in need of gifts after Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday?  While those big shopping days offer deals on the most wanted gifts for the holidays, they do lack in one department: originality.  We all love those mainstream products such as an iPad, Xbox or any other hyped electronics item, but I think we would appreciate a gift that was made specifically for us, even more.

So for this holiday season, how about creating something for that special loved one in your life?  If you’re not a crafty person, hearing that abbreviation DIY might scare you off, but rest assured, many DIY gift ideas are aimed at newbies like yourself and myself.

Our DealPros are known to have a few DIY gift ideas up their sleeves and you can do it with family and friends (why not make a party out of it?).  Any of these gifts will put a smile on that special person in your life. DIY gift ideas

K-Cup Organizer by A Few Short Cuts.  K-Cups are very popular and I can already think of a handful of people who would love to receive something like this including my dentist.

No Sew Fleece Blankets by Smart Spending Spot.  I’m not good at sewing so this gift idea would be the perfect project to take on.  Plus, who doesn’t need a good ole blanket.

Homemade Photo Craft Gifts by Money Crashers.  I didn’t know the various ways you could use photos to create a present.  Casey offers 7 gift ideas including a puzzle, soap, tin and more.

Sugar Bowl Candle or Tea Cup Candle by Premeditated Leftovers.  What a great idea!  Not only does it come with easy direction, I would actually love to get this as a gift.  Very dainty and something I could see myself using on a daily basis.

Snowman Speciman Art by Fun Finds for Families.  This would be more of a holiday themed gift idea that can also work great as holiday decor around the home to put you in the holiday spirit.

Mason Jar Pie by Thrifty NW Mom.  Say what?  I love anything inside a mason jar and I love pies.  Take the two, combine them in one, and you have a perfect gift for the holidays.  This gift would surely be a hit!

Homemade Bath Salts by Smart Spending Spot.  I’m very guilty of spending a lot of money on buying bath salts at Whole Foods and Target.  Not only would this be a nice gift, but it would also help me save money by making my own.

Make a party out of it

Holidays are all about giving, sharing, and partying it up!  Why not host a DIY gift party?  Frugalissa Finds talks about a Homemade Gift Making Party she was invited to, what she made and how much it cost per gift.  This would be a great idea for an upcoming girls night out.

Free DIY events for your children

Because of the holidays, some retailers offer in-store DIY classes and workshops.  They’re usually free.  Mommy’s Wish List adds that your children can participate in a free Christmas craft workshop held at Anthropologie.  They can make something cute for you, their teachers or even their friends.  It’s a great way to get your kids involved with the holidays.

Whether you spend $5 or $20 on making a gift, the time and energy you put into each gift is invaluable.  Knowing that you’ve put your heart and love into the gift will also be felt by the gift receiver.  Nothing can compete with that.  Come back next week when our DealPros share their unique and quirky gift ideas!
