Happy National Pet Month! The Savings crew loves pets, and we always have a few of our furry friends scampering around the office. There’s something nice about being able to take a break by playing a game of catch with one of the dogs.
Owning a pet has shown to have a number of benefits- with pet owners generally getting more exercise than their pet-less peers, and helping to ease feelings of lonliness by providing companionship. However, buying a pet can cause a strain on the wallet, especially if you don’t take measures to budget your spending. PetFinder.com estimates that the first year of owning a small dog will cost nearly $800, and that number jumps to $1500, when you’re talking about a large breed. Thankfully, there are a number of sites out there to help you in your decision to own a pet, and decrease the costs once you’ve decided to add a furry friend to your family. Pet toys, beds, and other supplies can be bought discounted or on sale, and food can typically be purchased in bulk.
This afternoon at 1:30pm PST, we’ll be chatting with Dianna Forbes, Marketing Manager and resident pet expert over at Jeffers Pet Supplies on our Facebook page. Family owned since 1975, Jeffers provides discount pet supplies and vaccines, and prides itself on amazing customer service. Join us with your questions about pet products, finding the best price, and what you can do to keep Fido at his healthiest. We’ll also be (randomly) choosing one winner to win a $100 gift card to Wysong, as well as some Savings.com chew toys! If you’d like to win, leave us a comment below and join us for the chat!
